War on Cancer

  1. John F. Kennedy sought to unite our nation with the goal of going to the moon. We need a new uniting focus.  With nearly one in two people diagnosed with cancer at some point in their life, cancer has personally affected most Americans or someone they love. It is the great thief of our day and we should as a nation treat it as a more severe threat than Russia.  I say this as we need to shift some of resources to combat this, and we must do so in a thoughtful way.  I propose we create a new department similar to NASA that is focused on curing and preventing cancer.
  2. To make the cost affordable to the public the government could use a buy out option with the pharmaceutical company to make a treatment generic with prices set to cover production costs only.
